One of the topics that crops up again and again at my weekly seminars is using the MUSIC FINDER, so this time, I am going to give you some ideas on using this great feature.
I will be using the CVP407 Clavinova this time, but it is very much the same principle on all models since it came out some years ago.
The name, MUSIC FINDER, is slightly confusing as it doesn’t FIND music at all.
What it does do though, is to find the best settings, ie SOUND VARIATION, RHYTHM, SPEED, INTRO etc for any song title you select.
Before you start, make sure that you have got the correct titles in your instrument and not the cryptic titles that are put in at the factory.
ie A BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER may be called A BRIDGE TO CROSS TROUBLED WATER
I can supply the correct titles for you if you give me a call.
THIS IS WHAT TO DO TO FIND A SONG
Let’s look for MOON RIVER
1 Press the MUSIC FINDER button.
2 Use the TAB or BACK/ NEXT buttons to select the ALL page.
3 Make sure the word MUSIC appears in the SORT BY box. If it doesn’t, then press the I button at the side of the screen several times until it does.
4 Press either of the SEARCH buttons at the side, or under the screen.
5 Make sure that each of the 3 boxes, MUSIC, KEYWORD and STYLE are empty by pressing the CLEAR button at the side of each one.
6 Make sure that the 3 boxes, BEAT, SEARCH AREA and GENRE are displaying ANY, ALL and ANY. If not, then press the relevant buttons at the side or under the screen until they do.
7. Press button A next to MUSIC, and use the buttons under the screen to spell the words MOON RIVER. Remember to wait a couple of seconds after entering each letter to give the cursor time to move. On earlier models you will need to move the dial to move the cursor.
8. Press OK
9. Press the same button again START SEACH.
10. You will now be on one of the SEARCH pages and the song title MOON RIVER should be displayed.
11. Press ENTER
12. The instrument has now selected a suitable INTRO, STYLE VARIATION, SPEED and SOUNDS for your chosen song. On earlier models the INTRO is not selected.
Just play the first chord with your left hand and away you go.
Next month we will look at how to SAVE your favourites.
