In 2005, Roger Hagarty ( pictured here) from Ilkeston opened his own ‘Roger’s Music’ superstore based at Nottingham’s ‘Glade Business Centre’ after 35 years serving and teaching aspiring musicians at the former Fox’s and Williams Music Stores. Recently Roger has retired leaving his trusted friend Sean Cumberland to carry on the good work.
It is Sean’s aim to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Sean started playing music in the 1970’s, having organ lessons at Fox’s Music in the Victoria Centre, progressing through the Kenneth Baker tuition books. During the 1980’s Sean took up keyboard playing with the Technics K200 being his first portable instrument, it was around this time that he got to know Roger, buying various items from him at Fox’s including a 3 manual Wurlitzer organ!
Sean joined the Fox’s team in 1993 as a keyboard salesman and progressed under Rogers command to Assistant Manager and Yamaha Music School co-ordinator, from there he worked with Roger at Williams Music in Arnold until the branch closed. Sean then did various jobs, the most noteable was setting up and managing his church charity shop, Arena Hope in Ilkeston. All this time keeping close contact with Roger, in fact the charity shop was an outlet for Rogers Music.
Roger’s Music offers free parking and two floors of impressive instruments, both new and used. Visit the showroom any day of the week and enjoy a cuppa and biscuits whilst exploring the wonderful range of Yamaha and Casio instruments.
